Foundational Thinking #1
We begin our Foundational Thinking with something from the New Testament. It is a fabulous Teaching in that it spells out the creation of your life, from one point of view.
The Universal Teaching is stated as: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” (John 1 KJV)
Keep in mind that the Bible and the Gospels were written by men during a dominant patriarchal time. Their imagery of God is presented as a male. This is far from the truth of understanding. God is an Energy, a Force, the Source of All. God is both male and female. It is our Father/Mother. It is an eternal consciousness. Another term we will use from time to time is that God is a Creative Continuum.
In this writing we examine the Teaching about the Word. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
The first point to be addressed is the fact that we are “created in the image of God.” (Genesis 1:27) The second is that “…the kingdom of God is within you…” (Luke 17:21) which acknowledges and affirms that God dwells within. The Spiritual Self is that part of you that IS God. It is through the Spiritual Self that your directives are received from the God Force.
Now, before a word can be spoken, it originates as thought. Everything in the material plane originates as thought; yours, mine, the collective consciousness and, above all, God’s.
Material manifestation is the result of our unified thinking. This is in keeping with the Teaching “ask and you shall receive.” (John 16:24) Of course, there is more depth and application to this Teaching that we will cover in time.
The point is, your thoughts co-create your reality with the Energy of God as the cement that holds it all together. This was taught by Buddha some 450 years before the birth of Jesus, or the words of John. Buddha stated it as: “We are shaped by our thoughts. What we think we become.”
Next in this Teaching is the statement, “The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” This reaffirms that thought is the essence of creation. Thoughts are behind every word, deed, action, reaction and manifestation.
In the last part of the Teaching we see “In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” Our thoughts will travel in one of two directions; toward the Light or away from it. When your thoughts are free from the teachings of man and are centered on the immutable laws of God, the Universal Teachings, you will manifest the Light in everything you do. Be a Light to all with whom you come into contact this week.
