Foundational Thinking #2

In the last communication we asked that you make the effort to be a Light to all with whom you come into contact. Did you do it? What was the response of the people you met? Did you notice that, perhaps, they were less defensive, more open to you, friendlier? Use your eyes to see the subtle changes in people you meet as you make the subtle changes in your Self.

Here are some Teachings referring to Light within you:

  • Buddha said “Make my teachings your light.” His Teachings, along with the other great Masters are essential to know, understand and, above all, apply. Knowledge without application is just the intellect at work without wisdom. Wisdom comes from applying and experiencing the truth of something, especially the self.
  • In the Gospel According to Thomas it is written, “Show us the place where Thou art, for it is necessary for us to seek it. He said to them: ‘Whoever has ears let him hear. Within a man of light there is light and he lights the whole world. When he does not shine, there is darkness.'” (Gospel of Thomas #24)
  • Another Teaching on the same subject, also from the Thomas Gospel: “Jesus said: ‘If they say to you: From where have you originated? Say to them: We have come from the Light, where the Light has originated through itself. It [stood] and it revealed itself in their image….'” (Gospel of Thomas #50)

Your Light is your Spiritual Self. However, to let it shine as it should you need to understand and control your Emotional Self. This means getting to truly know you. Get to the place that you are more in control over your thoughts. Thoughts are among the first manifestations of a subconscious concept at work.

Here is what Plato, who lived 300 plus years before Jesus, had to say about thoughts: “Human behavior flows from three main sources: desire, emotion, and knowledge.” Aristotle said: “The energy of the mind is the essence of life.”

Jesus said: “Ask and it shall be given.” (Matthew 7:7) Know what you are asking for at the subconscious level. How? By learning to have “eyes that see and ears that hear.” Learn to read symbols. The Teaching that addresses this is: “Know what is in thy sight and what is hidden from thee will be revealed to thee. For there is nothing hidden which will not be manifest.” (Gospel According to Thomas #5)

Look around you and see what you are manifesting. Now ask why. Make a list so that each item can be brought into harmony with the Creative Continuum.
