Insight #5

We are in the midst of examining why the church rejects reincarnation. We covered the first 4, now we look at #5, #6 and #7 of the reasons.

5. It is contradicted by psychology and common sense, for its view of souls as imprisoned in alien bodies denies the natural psychosomatic unity.

We say: On the contrary. First, currently taught psychology does NOT understand the true motivations of man. It does not understand where the concepts that motivate man are formed, nor does it know the true why’s. Therefore, not knowing the truth, it cannot present a truly clear picture of life.

Common sense tells us that energy cannot be created or destroyed. God is energy. We are energy beings.

6. It entails a very low view of the body, as a prison, a punishment.

We say: The body is something we choose, something we created over years of evolutionary adaptation. The prison and punishment is a very limited perspective. It is all out of character from a Christian point of view. Jesus implies that the body is the container of Spirit. How could it be anything less than wonderful.

7. It usually blames sin on the body and the body’s power to confuse and darken the mind. This is passing the buck from soul to body, as well as from will to mind, and a confusion of sin with ignorance.

We say: These are all lame reasons for dissing reincarnation. All of #7 is justification for avoiding the truth. It gives the body power over the mind. This statement demonstrates how little these authors and teachers of this concept understand.

Sin is the result of ignorance. If a person understood that what they are doing is being done to satisfy an internal need, then the need would not exist and therefore NO SIN is committed.

It is the actions/transactions a person takes that others judge as wrong or sinful. This is in spite of the fact that we are taught “not to judge.”

The church does not necessarily teach what needs to be taught to help mankind free itself from the concepts it embraces as true, when they are diametrically opposed to God’s Laws.

Here is a prime example: in Genesis God creates male and female, in God’s image. BOTH are created that way. Therefore, BOTH are equal in the “eyes of God.”

Man, wanting dominance over woman says the following: “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body. Therefore, as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.” (Ephesians 5:22-25)

This is nothing that Jesus ever taught.
