10 Aug Self Knowledge #3
In our last communication, we asked you to work on your disciplines. If you do, they will serve you well in the coming cycles.
Here is a “promise” telling you what you can expect when you succeed in “knowing your Self”, expressing your Spiritual Self, and at the same time understanding and controlling the Emotional Self. “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, [NOT IN me] the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do.”
The major religions do not teach the understanding or applications of the Universal Teachings, or “eyes to see, or ears to hear”, the language of symbology. Yet, it was known during Jesus’ time. Here is a passage relating to that understanding: “Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge [symbol reading]: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.” (Luke 11:52 KJV)
Symbol reading is an essential aide on your path to understanding with a higher consciousness and awareness.
We want to go back and finish the explanation of hating and honoring your parents that we started in #2.
Here is a Teaching that is a direct contradiction to the Teaching of “hating” your parents. It will appear to be a contradiction because neither Teaching is understood. This Teaching talks about honoring your parents. “Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.” (Exodus 20:12 KJV)
On the surface this Teaching is telling you to honor, not hate, your parents. However, when you examine this Teaching from a symbolic perspective you realize what is being taught. Father is symbolic of our spiritual nature, our spiritual essence. Mother is our physical body. We are a product of Father Spirit and Mother Earth. We are spiritual beings in material bodies.
So, you can see that the Teachings are not in opposition to each other, they require different understandings and applications. This Teaching is advising you to take care of your spirit and body. Honor and respect both. It is taught that the body is the Temple of God.
Look at animals, as they are our teachers on one level, as a cub, pup, a kid, etc. Once they are weaned they leave the nest, den, cave, and strike out on their own. They create their own reality, away from home.
For us, “away from home” would be leaving the teachings of the family, the culture, the traditions and above all the teachings of man. Here is the Universal Teachings addressing that: “Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee.” (Genesis 12:1 KJV) The “land” is the higher realm of consciousness.
We all start out at the Adam level of consciousness and must progress through understandings, applications and emotional control, to the Christ level of consciousness.
Until the next writing in this series, seek to discover your mode of acceptance. See how it influences your actions and reactions. As we go through these Teachings and applications you will discover that you can change. And change is vital to your growth. Aristotle said: “Change in all things is sweet.”
You can eliminate or control the influences that have worked against you. In doing so you facilitate becoming the person you really want to be.
